VOLKLINGEN
The Völklingen Ironworks (German: Völklinger Hütte) is located in the German town of Völklingen, Saarland. In 1994 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. About 2-3 hours by train from Paris, I was totally impressed by the pharaonic dimensions of this historical factory, made by human hands.
The metal ruins in a space of a few square kilometres invaded by a constantly growing and reclaiming nature make it look like an abandoned alien ship in a science fiction setting.
It was for me a treat of materials, textures and colours.
