Jean-Pierre Domingue est un photographe franco-canadien résidant à Paris depuis plus de 25 ans. Ancien assistant de Guy Bourdin, il débuta en tant que photographe de mode où il se fit connaitre. Artiste passionné, c’est au cours de ces voyages qu’il s’imprégna des cultures étrangères ainsi que des paysages environnant. Ces sujets de prédilections, depuis plusieurs années, sont les sites classés au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO. Il affectionne leur caractère unique et exceptionnel. Il a déjà photographié les temples d’Angkor, le site archéologique de Pompéi, la baie d’Halong, l’usine sidérurgique de Volklingen, etc.
Jean-Pierre Domingue est un artiste autant en osmose qu’en rupture avec son médium. Dans certaines de ses photographies Jean-Pierre Domingue s’approche fortement des médiums des arts plastiques. La réduction d’un monde tridimensionnel à une image bidimensionnel est reformulée à travers une exploration photographique d’objets trouvés, d’un collage où la présence de l’artiste touche parfois l’anonymat, et reprend la question de la neutralité des moyens photographique. Une approche unique avec pour seule intention l’exploration de terrains inconnus. Le rayonnement de la beauté universelle, non pas dans une idée de canon de beauté mais la beauté dans son plus simple appareil, la beauté de la lumière, la beauté d’une porte, la beauté de tous ce qui nous entoure et que nous ne savons pas, que nous ne savons plus regarder.
Jean-Pierre Domingue est régulièrement exposé, en préparation actuelle une a la Bibliothèque François Mitterrand et qu'une autre à Shanghai. Jean-Pierre Domingue est représenté à Paris par la galerie Basia Embiricos.

Jean-Pierre Domingue, born in Montreal, Canada, currently living in Paris, is a photographer who made his name in the world of fashion photography. During his professional travels, he was inspired by cultures and landscapes in which he found himself. He is particularly interested in protected and unique sites, notably of the UNESCO, including Pompeii, as well as Halong Bay and Ang-Kor.
Jean-Pierre Domingue is an artist in constant rupture with his medium. In a construction of the image through color sometimes taking priority over light, and recalling abstract compositions in of which the geometric lines and the forms interrogate an objective representation of reality, certain images of Jean Pierre Domingue briefly touch the painted medium. The question of the reduction, on a two dimensional image, of a world of three dimensions, is reformulated through a photographic exploration of found objects, a collage of which the author remains both anonymous and varied, questioning the supposedly objective vision of the photographic medium. An unintentional approach imposed by the passion of exploring unknown terrain leaves an element suspended between the generosity of surprises and the intervention of the artist.
He is currently preparing several exhibition, including the archives of Palerme at the François Mitterrand Library. He is also preparing an exhibition on Pompeii à Shanghai. Jean-Pierre Domingue is currently represented in Paris by the gallery Basia Embiricos.
